Why Lee Kuan Yew No Need to Conduct Meet the People's Sessions?

I was attracted by a Tanjong Pagar RC Poster stating that the Meet the People's Sessions by Mr Lee Kuan Yew at Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru constituency will be conducted by Ms Indranee Thurai Rajah. This "special" arrangement was already mentioned during the last GE in this post at hardwarezone.

After PAP controlled Election Department had disqualified the opposition party contesting Tanjong Pagar GRC, elderly Mr Lee Kuan Yew at 80+ still do not want to do his part as an MP? Perhaps his son PM Lee should order his father to fulfill this duty as a MP.

If LYK cannot fulfill his role as a MP due to old age, then he should seriously considering NOT to contest in GE 2011 and retire with dignity. If he keep hogging the political scene and yet does not discharge his duty, how can people give his the respect; especially those residents under him?

  1. He's not the only one not doing MPS.. Goh Chok Tong is another one. probably Lee Hsien Loong too.

They must think they're too high-level to do such 'menial' tasks..

  2. So long as the service is provided,
does it matters who attends to the constituents?
May I liken the service to a debt; so long as I am paid the money/good/obligation, why should I be bothered by who deliver the money/good/duty.

If the constituents in Tanjong Pagar are not happy with MS Indranee or any others, all they need to do is to tell they are not happy and or write to the PM.

  3. The service provides by indranee is probably better (though I pity her)

But it's the attitude of these leaders that the MPS is beneath them. Or maybe there's a good reason, then they should explain to the public.

  4. “People support CPF cuts because there are no protest outside parliament”.

Residents of Tanjong Pagar GRC support this because there are no protest outside parliament

  5. If you can make someone do the work for you, then why should I even employ and pay you or even vote for you?
Our govt is reaching the level of being ridiculous!

Question is not whether there is somebody to
serve the residents. Question is the justification in drawing an MP's salary and not doing an MP job.
If Indranee can do the jobs of 2 MPs , then why do we need so many MPs in the first place for such a small country
They are paid S$15,000/mth each from our tax money, which could be saved if they could cut down their numbers!
