Immigration Influx Part II - After GE2011 :(

Mid of March, I was alarmed that AFP and BBC had reported that some of the India's Airlines Pilots were not qualified pilots at all when they were issue flying licenses. Airlines in India such as Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet were found to have pilots with "dog shit" licenses.

In a nut shell, they were not even qualified in their basic pilot flying training when they were awarded a commercial flying license in India. They got their commercial flying licenses through cheating and falsification of their qualifications. However, although this is a piece of information for me not to take Indian Airlines in future, a Straits Times Article on 26 Mar 2011 "Easier to bring in foreign-trained docs" caught my eyes and I was ever more concerned about this news.

Although I trust our local medical authorities to validate foreign trained doc from countries such as India, I am sure some corners will be cut due to the political pressures given to accept those "instant doctors" instead of increasing the number of medical places for local students.

If the PAP government can tweak Singapore's medical profession to accept lower grade medical doctors to work in Singapore, the why not other professionals such as pilots, engineers and technicians? These 5 years since the last Election was the proof that PAP is doing this to Singapore.

Out of curiosity, I search the India Cockpit fraud again, Google had articles from AFP and also Straits Times. These are the 2 versions, and Straits Times had condensed the original version from AFP leaving many critical information from readers:

Straits Times "Cut" Version of AFP report

Straits Times had left out many "damning" reports about corruption in India's Aviation industry and it also mentioned that other than Flying qualification, Medical qualifications can be bought with a price!

"It's as bad as doctors or surgeons who fake their certificates and put people's lives at risk," says Baijayant Panda, a member of parliament from the eastern state of Orissa.

"But it's not limited to aviation in India. In many fields, you have a lot of fakery going on," the lawmaker, seen as part of a new breed of young Indian politicians, told a debate show on NDTV television last week.

Last year, the head of the Medical Council of India, which is responsible for certifying medical qualifications, was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of 20 million rupees to recognise a medical college.

"Flying schools are meant to be monitored by the DGCA. What is the DGCA doing? They are themselves so corrupt," the retired civil servant told AFP.

So meeting a India doctor next time, better think twice! I have to vote wisely for a party other than those in White Ivory Tower with a lightning!

We as responsible citizens should use our votes to vote in more opposition MPs to questions the ruling Party on their policies and not let foreign doctors risking our lives!
