Singapore 45th National Day is here and of course the added bonus will be Monday is a public holiday!
Today at 8:10pm, all Singaporeans are encouraged to recite the National Pledge together. (Even though we are not at the NDP ground)
National Pledge of Singapore
We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.
(Its recited everyday by generations of students & yet someone dared to says it an aspiration! Maybe when he was 6 feet under then it was an aspiration for him, not for us)
I was at one of the rehearsal as a bystander on one of the rehearsal Saturday and I was standing next to the Ceremonial Guns area (Next to former NCO Club) and the shock wave from these guns were deafening! I can feel that the shock wave had passed through my body as I stood there watching.
Below is National Flag pick up by a Boeing CH-47D Chinook at one of the airbases in Singapore.
The video below is a pilot's view from one of the escort helicopter, the Boeing AH-64D Apache Attack Helicopter! That was a view that money may not possible to buy! My dream is to be able to pilot a fixed wing aircraft my self as a private pilot and if the first step is able to be fulfilled, then next will be a Commercial Pilot License and work in General Aviation Industry.
NDP is also an occasion where you can see all the MPs in Singapore, whether if they are from the PAP, WP, SPP, and hopefully in near future MPs from the RP or even SDP attending NDP together.
After all, anti PAP does not mean you are anti Singapore or unpatriotic; its the citizen's right to choose the political course that a country should head.
