Next Channel U had this CG where they shown the layout of the Orchard monsoon drain ABOVE the Orchard Road (Vehicle Road). If I remember corectly, the Orchard Road Monsoon Drain is ON THE PEDESTRIAN WALK WAY, where the 2010 YOG booths are currently. Why I remember? When I was young, my parents brought me there I can't forget the smell at the stretch because the side were the vents for the drains. Those in their 30s or later may remember this. Now these vents were covered.
I can't stopped wondering is this a new way to blame the freak flood on small little drain inlets on orchard road. If all of them are chocked, then why you can have a dragon boat race on orchard itself?
In the Channel U broadcast, the PUB officer then appeared and tried his best to explain the flood, but it does not convince me....
I believed that there was a major system (human factor and hardware) failure in PUB in managing the flood and the impending heavy rain. If there are human mistakes involved, rest assured it will not be some heavy head will roll, but will be some low level officers' heads.
I believed that the Marina Barrage have a part to play in this freak flood, but of of course, this was the brain child of you know who, they cannot and dare not investigate this. After all if you visit the Marina Barrage, the function of it is to store water and also Control Flooding.
To me, its easier to tell me the 四海龙王 or "4 Sea Dragon Emperors" are angry with Singapore for not having Dragon Boat Race on the Dumpling Festive and they spew flood water onto Singapore than this "Official Explanation". :)

Btw, its a long time since we had this Dragon Boat Race in Singapore, if there was a race yesterday, then they can row their dragon boats to Orchard!
