The Mysterious 100% PRC Staffing at Geylang Restaurants

If you walk along Geylang Lor 3 onwards towards Lor 20+, you never failed to noticed that the most of the Chinese Restaurants at Geylang employed almost 100% PRC waiters, waitresses dish collectors etc. I checked MOM website and it state that the Dependency Ceiling/Quota of Service-sector companies that are allowed to employ foreign workers on Work Permits up to 50% of the company's total workforce. PRC workers can make up 10% within the 50% DC.

Now I really want to question the Manpower minister Mr Gan on why such restaurants allow to make use of "Foreign Talents" if only 10% of PRC workers are allowed with in the 50% dependency celing?

I really hoped MOM will make some visits to check if these owners had employed additional PRC workers using Phantom workers scheme! I used the Quota Calculator for Service Sector from MOM but the amount of PRCs working compared to figures I entered really does not tally.....

If MOM really bears its teeth, then IMO, there will be lots of "Tua Pek Gongs" to take the raps for the actual business owners.
