One news caught my eyes when BBC reported that Algerians and the Chinese immigrant workers clashed over a trivial matter. A Chinese worker parked his car in front of a shop and a quarrel occurred and soon a group Chinese workers came for reinforcement and soon attacked the shop and many people were injured.

2 quotes that caught my eyes from AFP news was:
"The Chinese have taken advantage of the kindness of the Algerians. They were accepted despite their faults, today they are attacking us,"
"They drink alcohol in front of their shops and in full view of the Algerians and often parade about in shorts in the area. This sort of behaviour is against our religion and our culture," said Abdellah, another resident.
Well I think Singapore did well in area of immigration control where in Algeria 7 out of 10 are jobless. And yet the country allow so much immigration to work in state sponsored projects. One reason was that the Chinese cost lower and more highly skilled compared to Algerians.
In Singapore we do faced similar situation as Algeria but in different perspective. Our lower income Citizens are given a low wages that cannot sustain their living in our high cost of living society. Thus government allow cheap and hard working workers that are willing to do jobs that Singaporeans rejected.
